The day after my butterfly shoot, I decided to study their patterns and I sketched them from life. This was difficult because they hardly sit still. It was very interesting to watch them get nectar. They use their proboscis in a very interesting way that relates the flower. While they get nectar, the flower sprinkles them with pollen. I want to sketch more bugs in life and I hope spring brings...

The bush outside of my front door is very fragrant and butterflies love it. There were at least 5 different butterfly species that I could count and oddly they gathered by species on the bush. I decided to do a short butterfly photoshoot and these two pictures are my favorite from the shoot. I love springtime; it is so inspiring!
Mondayz
This is an evil stepmother that I made up in my art history class. We were studying gothic architecture and I think she is inspired by this.
Hand Drawing

This website rules if you are trying to draw, sketch, recreate a hand. Super useful.

I drew two friends from work in the way I think of them. One girl I work with is gorgeous and she sort of looks like an avatar without being striped and blue. The other is a friend from work that reminds me of a sweet chipmunk with glasses. He is always peppy and excited to be wherever he is. He really reminds me of a cartoon chipmunk.

I baked banana nut bread from scratch! with organic bananas! and from memory! I didn’t use a cookbook or anything. I kind of tried to add some extra things like cinnamon and cardamom to change it up and I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. I knew it was good when one of the chefs from work named Condelarrio took a bite and and exclaimed that it was the best thing he had ever...

I had a moment this week to do planting again (thank god)! I think everyone should have a plant. It’s so rewarding to watch them grow and use them. I even planted one of my plants in a pot that I threw and glazed myself (top picture). I can’t wait to use the herbs in the last picture. I planted pineapple sage, mint, and cinnamon basil. I’ve never cooked with any of these...

I stumbled upon how to make this sketch online. It was a really cool concept. First you make the vertical lines and then add one horizontal that acts as the axis for all the others to go off of. I like this sketch a lot because it’s interesting to look at. I want to recreate it in illustrator.
Mondayne
This band, Ails and Remedies, put their band poster up at one of my jobs to announce that they were playing there on Saturday. Their band poster looked like it could use some help so I tried to think of others ways they could represent themselves. This is just playing with font ideas.
Friday
I sketched my water bottle and my teacup today. My favorite tea cup, specifically. It handle connects in interesting ways.
Thursday
This is a little doodle texture practice making. I first made a scribble with my eyes closed and then tried to make something out of it like we did in Bob’s Foundation Class.
Wednesday Night
This is a fat angry rabbit I made in Illustrator. I wanted him to look like a sumo wrestler too. I need to make an opponent for him..
Monday and Tuesday Doodle
This is a little crane fly I worked on Monday and Tuesday. These bugs are all over my house. They’re really annoying. This guy looks more like a dragonfly though
Thursday and Friday
These sketches I also did in two 15 minute sessions. I have been very inspired lately by spring and want to make my patio a garden wonderland. This summer I want to build this trellace thing I created on the right side of the page to go in the center of my deck.
Tuesday and Wednesday
I did this sketch in two 15 minute periods before work. Louie’s Too has the perfect little window benches to sit and sketch on. I love all the green OU has. I didn’t realize until making this sketch how many different trees OU has just in it’s North oval.
Monday
This is a sketch of a building on campus. My art history class has really got me thinking about architecture lately. Drawing buildings helps me to better understand how they were made.

Fridays Doodles
My friend had some stuff up at the art walk and he did it all in ball point pen. I wanted to check out this medium so I made these doodles.
Some sketches and some notes (Thursday)
I drew some letters from some illuminated manuscripts were studying in my art history class. Dr. Caldwell is really smart. The notes on the side are from her class. I hope to be as intelligent as she is one day.
Wednesday City
Did this little doodle in illustrator. It’s a cityscape. I actually really like the milky brown color I used in the background.
Extra 15 Minute Sketch
I drew this eye from my imagination. Needs more contrast I think
Information Design Exercise
funny
found this on the internet, entertaining
Tuesday Cartoons
Today I recreated some more sketches in illustrator. I like my little penguin men You can do so much with simple shapes.
Monday's Doodles
I want to have more variety on my tumblr sketches so I am recreating some of my previous pencil/paper drawings in illustrator. These two are based off of a duck and squirrel I drew in a post a while ago.
Wednesday Purse and Apartments
This is my purse on the end of my couch and the view of some apartments outside of my windows. I used a sharpie pen to do this.
Tuesday Kitchen Sketches
These are a few sketches of things from my kitchen that my room mates have left out on the table. I decided to sketch in pen because I usually sketch in pencil.
Monday Outdoor Cat Cage
I feel bad that I don’t let my cat outside but I live on a busy street so he can’t go outside. I decided to design a cage I can put him in from my window without me actually going outside. My materials are listed on the sketch. I plan to make this in the summer or over spring break.

This is my friend’s pug. She sat still for a while so I drew her. She is a very good dog. The thing on the left is the top of a wine bottle with it’s cork. The top is me experimenting with numbers and how to represent them.
Effective Information Design Examples
1.The purpose of this design is to show data about various things like business investment, labour income, shares of national income etc. They basically chart data with silly references and cheesy graphics. A lot of it is distracting. Each chart teaches you a different thing about the set data (e.g. labour income is down).
2. Nothing really makes this successful, but I wanted to have an...
Power Cord Doodle
I drew our power cords at school. This is actually a terrible sketch. I’ve found that if I slow down and sketch I don’t do as well. If I sketch fast I get proportions and things correct more often.
Submarine
I missed/forgot about charcoal. So messy but that makes it fun.
This is a sketch
This is what I think the paw of a bear would look like I like the texture in the fur.
Cartoons and Geometric Shapes
I did some more animal cartoons and then I made this triangle shape thing. I shaded in some of the triangles. I actually do not like shading unless its an actual drawing and even then I only prefer it in a painterly style. Anyway, I made these triangles after watching the new Gotye video “Somebody That I Used To Know”
This is my final AE video. The brain mapping and storyboard sketches are in a previous post. This video was interesting to make and it has caused me to look at other videos I see now differently bc I have a small clue as to how they were made.
Friday's Vegas Pictures
This is Chihuly in Vegas. Good to know the great OK has the biggest collection of his. Take that Vegas.
This is the floor at Caesar’s Palace. Despite the overall trashiness of Vegas the floor here is geometrically awesome and it’s like an optical illusion. Not to mention the typical design colors of black white and red they used.
Instructional Diagrams!
Took this on Sunday’s plane ride back. Cool illustrations, but absolutely ridiculous and unreal. Wonder if anyone’s actually consulted the pamphlet in a situation like this. Anyway, nice illustrations to observe.
Last Thursday's Sketches
This is a cartoon of my friend Aaron and his cat Ellie (seen in other posts)
This is a cartoon of my friend Thomas and his pug Alice. She looks like Jake from the adventuretime cartoon which was unintentional. Pugs have real strange faces that are already very cartoonish. Makes them good for illustrations.
And these are the clouds from the plane ride to Vegas. I took this because when I...
Cartoons
I went to Vegas last week(end) and didn’t have the ability to post sketches so I will be uploading those this week too. This I did last Wednesday. More cartoons. I like to do basic line drawings but they’re also challenging for me because I hate to erase. I want to just be able to draw it perfectly the first time which causes me to see it in my mind first and then draw very slowly.
Storyboard
This is my storyboard for my AE veggie project. I enjoyed sketching these and thinking of cool ways to transition into each scene. I chose harvest to sale because it gave me the option to have a variety of illustrations (like the truck and basket of potatoes) that I think will make the final AE video better.
Brainstorming AE Veggies
These are my ideas if I were to do each process listed on the class blog. Also, I brainstormed transition ideas.
Pepe Delgado's
This is a sketch I did at work again. The left sketch is a cool lamp we have at Pepe’s. It’s made of glass and I admire the curvature in it’s form. The right is a sketch of a Stella Artois tap which is beautiful in it’s curvature as well. I want to be better at replicating the correct curve of lines like these. Also, this sketch made me realize that it’s...
Ellie and the Litterbox
The top part of the sketch is a cabinet/litterbox that I designed. No one likes to see a litterbox because they are gross. So I designed a piece of furniture that serves as cabinet space and a hidden litterbox space. I’m going to ask my Dad to build this for me for my birthday. The bottom is a sketch of my friend’s cat, Ellie who comes over a lot. She is the reason for this design.
Revised Vegetables
This was difficult but basically I tried to make the swiss chard look more like the other two illustrations by reducing the detail in the veins of the leaves. Then I enlarged the tomato slice. And for all three designs, I reversed the white on black to black on white. I think all three parts look like a unified whole now.
Rule of Thirds Practice 2
I noticed the Rule of Thirds on my back porch. The three vertical posts combined with the upper and lower horizontal wooden planks make the rule of thirds easily noticeable in this photograph. Also, the sun looks pretty cool shining down on this scene.
